User researchers: what you need to do to pass the Digital by Default Service Assessment

Posted by: and , Posted on: - Categories: Service Assessment

From April 2013, all new or redesigned digital services must meet the Digital by Default Service Standard.

Understanding and responding to user needs is at the heart of the standard so, when your team comes up for assessment, it’s important that you're able to communicate the work you've done effectively.

A checklist of questions

To help you do this better, we’ve created a checklist of questions which you should be prepared to answer.

We hope this will be useful for 1. teams who are coming up for assessment and 2. teams who are in earlier stages and planning their research activity.

As you’ll see from the checklist, although we’re interested in how much research you've done, we’re more interested in what your team has learned from the research and how the research has influenced the decisions made in the service design.

The checklist is a work in progress so please give us your feedback - let us know what’s helpful and how we can improve on it.
